“And the Oscar Goes To…” – Redland to Present ULI Innovation Award

Mar 08, 2017

In keeping with our tradition of creating great places, Redland will be presenting the Innovation award at the 2017 Urban Land Institute Impact Awards.

The Urban Land Institute is a national organization of almost 40,000 real estate development professionals.  Denver plays host to an Impact Awards ceremony every two years to recognize and celebrate outstanding developments along the Front Range; a veritable “academy awards” ceremony for the built environment.

Awards are presented in four main categories, Infill, Innovation, Influence, and Inspire.  For the past two years, Redland has had the privilege of presenting the award for Innovation.  This award celebrates developers who push the envelope in design and function; their developments redefine the way we interact with the built environment.

Redland has been privileged to have witnessed and presented to true visionary projects in the metro area, and this year’s candidates are as strong as ever, they include:

The DIA Hotel and Transit Center

The addition of a hotel and commuter rail connection has truly matured Denver and cemented its reputation as the “Capitol of the West”.   Careful coordination between many stakeholders and municipalities resulted in a world-class hotel and transit system to serve Denver’s citizens and travelers.

Emily Griffiths School

The Emily Griffth Technical College motto: “So that all may learn” is a nod to its practice of offering Opportunity School to people of all ages from all ethnic and economic backgrounds. The school started over a century ago in an old Downtown Denver building, but it now calls a brand new campus home at 1250 Welton.

INDUSTRY

One of the “Founding Fathers” of the trending RiNo neighborhood, INDUSTRY is catalyzing corporate America by grouping all scales of company under one roof to create a collaborative environment that accelerates innovation.

At Redland, it is important for us to see these types of projects; it inspires us to push the envelope ourselves to produce innovative solutions that allow us to stay on the cutting edge of design.  In the coming weeks, we will be visiting each of these sites to learn more about each of the candidate projects.
