Redland celebrated with other Food For Thought volunteers and staff as they kicked off the summer, capping off another successful school year.
Throughout the year, Redland staff has volunteered with Food For Thought, a Denver nonprofit that strives to eliminate student hunger outside the classroom by providing weekend meals for children who live in families that are at-or-below the poverty level. These students rely on school-provided lunches during the week, but often do not receive adequate nourishment over the weekend. The FFT weekend meals, which they call “PowerSacks”, provide essential weekend nutrition for these students.
With the start of summer, Food for Thought will be taking a brief break to plan and prepare before Denver Public Schools resume classes again in the fall. To celebrate the year, they hosted their annual Haven in the Pines event, a party and fundraiser with their staff and volunteers held in Castle Rock
Redland has been proud to lend a hand with Food for Thought as they work to curb student hunger in Denver. We look forward to volunteering in the next school year!
