This month Redland conducted its semi-annual site visit. The site visit allows the office to take a deeper look at past and ongoing Redland projects, with managers and their teams sharing experiences and challenges on location. This visit took Redland to Prairie Center in Brighton, a developing master-planned community that has called upon all our service lines over time.
Redland strives to provide a collaborative environment that encourages associates to understand each practice area. This informative, hands-on experience shows associates the importance of a company that works together. Associates were split into four teams and rotated through different locations at Prairie Center.
The first stop took associates to the Prairie Center Shopping Center, the original installation of the development. Redland provided entitlements, civil engineering, and landscape architecture for the retail spaces. The project manager walked through the design thought process with Redland Associates, purposely providing real-life examples of our work come to life. The second stop shared details on land planning, from open spaces to varying lot sizes, land planning requires high-level detail in the earliest of development stages. The third stop featured construction management as associates watched the build continue in Prairie Center Village 1, Phase 4. The final stop explored park design and how our landscape architecture team planned to execute an upcoming open space project for Prairie Center’s multi-family park area.
Site visits prove to be a useful exercise to fully understand the obstacles and real-life circumstances of the work that we provide. Redland will continue to value education and team building in future site visits.
