New York-based Gotham Greens now has a 140,000 square-foot high-tech hydroponic greenhouse facility in Windsor, Colorado. The 15-acre lot is located within the 3,000-acre Great Western Industrial Park. Redland has provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services for this new facility.
The state-of-the-art facility allows Gotham Greens to grow and deliver fresh food for grocery retailers, restaurants, and food service customers throughout the Mountain West region. The site is set up to accommodate expansions of up to an additional 360,000 square feet of greenhouse space. This is Gotham’s second greenhouse in the state of Colorado, the first of which is located in Aurora.
The Redland Civil Engineering team designed the improvements to Weld County Road 23 as the entry road to the facility and the parking lot, loading dock, a stormwater detention pond and utilities for the facility. The Redland Landscape Architecture team was responsible for creating a design that satisfied town requirements and safeguards the health and safety of the greenhouse environment. The plant list and landscape design were carefully curated to avoid species that could produce potential contaminants and prevent unwanted insects or airborne pollutants. The site is irrigated via a non-potable water system that was coordinated with the overall GWIP development to minimize water usage and proactively consider impacts to the Industrial Park as a whole.
Redland has worked with BROE Real Estate Group on the development of the entire Great Western Industrial Park providing Civil Engineering, Land Planning, Landscape Architecture and Construction Management services.
