Redland is proud to be a member of the Sterling Ranch Project team. Sterling Ranch was a featured project in the May/June 2016 ULI article, “Before It Runs Off” by Kevin Brass.The article notes that stormwater is usually the last part of a development plan and is often an afterthought, but not for Sterling Ranch. Traditional Colorado law forbids the collection of rainwater so Sterling Ranch needed new legislation and approval from the Colorado Water Conversation Board to become a pilot project for rainwater harvesting in the state. Harold Smethills, founder and managing director of Sterling Ranch Development Company, says, “the intangible aspect is that residents will feel part of the leading edge of sustainability, people want to be able to use rainwater on their yards”.
